Pretty in Plaid: Fall 2014’s biggest style trend
Whether you want to stick to your family tartan, or go adventurous with bright colours, plaid is going to be in your wardrobe this season! Having covered the runways in all the top Fall collections, plaid has hit the streets hard over the summer and has featured again heavily at New York Fashion Week both on the street and on the runway. So how can you take a pattern that is over 3,000 years old (a Chinese mummy was once found with tartan leggings), and drag it in to AW14?
Plaid outerwear can cover pretty much anything. Go for block colours underneath as a more casual look, or mix up some patterns for a more statement style. Plaid outerwear hit the Fall 2014 runways hard in the form of cropped jackets, belted jackets and ponchos, and they looked incredible!
Timo Weiland's collection was one of many that featured the pattern of Fall 2014, with a monochrome plaid sweater, mixing patterns with knee length shorts giving that extra stand out factor.
Rihanna has been loving the plaid recently, including this blue and white overcoat covering a bright lace-edged dress. It is certainly getting some attention. Eyes on the job officer!!
However you wear it, make sure you don't miss out on the season of the plaid.
